Illinois Senator Darren Bailey's family members were killed in a helicopter accident on Wednesday. In a statement, the downstate senator said his son, daughter-in-law, and two of his grandchildren died in a helicopter accident in Montana. Bailey's two grandchildren were 12 and 7 years old.

The son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren of Illinois Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey were killed in a helicopter crash, his campaign said.

Bailey said his son, Zachary; daughter-in-law, Kelsey; and their two children, Vada Rose and Samuel, were killed in a crash.

Leaders on both sides of the political aisle are sending condolences to former state Sen. Darren Bailey’s family after four members died in a helicopter crash.
