Walmart’s U.S. CEO Says ‘Resilient’ American Shoppers Are Opening Their Wallets and Spending
John Furner, the CEO of Walmart U.S., said on a panel on Wednesday that American shoppers were “resilient.” Furner noted that shoppers were being selective but consistent in their purchases. The CEOs of JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Citigroup each described the U.S. economy as strong this week.
Walmart Inc. introduced its subscription service, Walmart Plus, five years ago this month, adding perks along the way without raising membership fees. Walmart Plus debuted on Sept. 15, 2020, costing subscribers $98 a year after a free 30-day trial.
