The Trump administration’s demolition of the East Wing of the White House has raised alarms among architecture and preservation groups, not just for the lack of public review, but the proposed 90,000 square foot ballroom that is proposed to replace it.

Demolition work on the East Wing of the White House began on Monday, Oct. 20 under President Donald Trump as the federal government shutdown entered its 21st day.

Some 47% of U.S. adults are “not very” or “not at all confident” they could find a good job if they wanted to, an increase from 37% when the question was last asked in October 2023.
